Cole Hamels hurt on the first fucking day

Listen, I trust Alex Anthopoulos with my life. The guy could play cards with the devil and I’m betting he’s walking away the winner. He’s smart, he’s level headed, and seems to know how to put together a winning ball club.

I will admit that when we signed Cole Hamels I said to myself “Really? That’s our big name starting pitcher we’re bringing in?” I know the market wasn’t great and when you look at it (1 year/18 million) it’s a good deal. He was brought in to mentor the young arms we have coming up, I know that. But after doing so well during the regular season and so much excitement around the team, and then that horrible ending to the playoffs I don’t want to take our foot off the gas. Yes we did bring in Marcell Ozuna (Honestly not sure what to think about it but looking how he wrecked us in the playoffs and how well our one year deal with Donaldson worked out I guess I should be excited.) and Will Smith to tighten up our way too exciting (not in a good way) Bullpen.

But on the first day that pitchers and catchers report Cole Hamels gets hurt? I woke up and saw the notification on my phone, to be fair I don’t wake up so early, but what the hell? By the time he got hurt, had the injury checked out and then reported by the media, I mean it must’ve been the first thing he did. That must be a new record for fastest injury in Spring Training history. He probably got hurt before he even put his Braves hat on for the first time. How’d he get hurt? Working out with some medicine balls.

It seems Hamels will be out for three weeks resting his left shoulder and won’t be back in time for the start of the season. Not a hot start guys…
